leader
I never understood the statement, "taking the backseat." For me, every day is a new day to be a leader. Whether I am coaching young swimmers or planning events for the community, my instinct to take ownership kicks in. I stopped apologizing for giving my opinion a long time ago and I haven't regretted it since.
I believe in leading by example. Monkey see, monkey do.
learner
To society, I am classified as a "Millennial." A generation branded with a "know-it-all" personality. I would like to say that I break this mold Each day is a new opportunity to better yourself, learn from others and expand your horizons. I define the success of a day by the knowledge I gain. This could be a new excel trick or trivial fact about butterflies.
Did you know, the original name of a "butterfly" was "flutterby"? Now you do.
adventurer
Take a quick scan around your home. What do you see? Camera? Passport? Pack? Maybe you are like me, and your calendar looks like a travel guide. This is the moment I defined myself as an adventurer. One the best - and most stressful - decisions of my life was relocating to California. I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and constantly needed "more."
My most recent adventure used all of the above. Central America is a beautiful country and I can officially say, I summited an active volcano. Up next, Ironman.
